Student Membership
BMA encourages area university business students to become Student Members. With membership, you become a part of an elite group of business professionals. The networking and career placement benefits become heightened as professional members recognize your ambition and your willingness to go the distance. Additionally, membership offers a number of cost savings. Click Here to download the student application form.
Mentoring
This program involves a BMA professional taking a student or young professional under his or her wing. The senior professional will offer advice in his or her area of professional development, and guide the student as he or she prepares to enter the working world, or navigates those first several months in a professional environment.
Internships and Career Shadowing
Job experience is the key to unlocking opportunities, but how do you get the experience to get the job? BMA understands the difficulties and offers a career placement program of internships and career shadowing opportunities for students. Students with ambition and the drive to succeed are placed with top career professionals—sometimes for a day or for a length of time—all giving you the skills you need to succeed.
Scholarship Awards
BMA-Colorado Chapter awards scholarships each spring to area students who demonstrate an understanding of business-to-business marketing—skills that can be achieved through participation in monthly meetings and networking.
BMA Student Outreach Roadshow
The RoadShow is designed to lessen the barrier between seasoned professionals and young students. The Roadshow will go to selected colleges and universities and provide educational seminars based on specific subjects that are of most interested to students. Mentoring
For Young Professionals:
College will soon be coming to a close, and there’s a whole new phenomenon waiting for you out there – it’s called “the working world.” With that reality staring you in the face, do you wish you had someone to talk to about life beyond college? Someone who could advise you about the profession you’ve chosen, the companies to which you should apply, and how you can get ahead? If yes, the Colorado Business Marketing Association’s mentoring program may be a great choice for you.
Simply put, a mentoring relationship means that a marketing professional with experience in an area of your choice will take you under his or her wing and offer advice. You can choose a mentor with experience in any of the following categories:
- Marketing/Product Manager – (Client side)
- Account Executive/Project Manager – (Agency side)
- Market Research
- Media Planner
- Creative Director/Art Director/Graphic Artist
- Copywriter
- Web Specialist
- E-Marketing/Search Engine Optimization
- Events/Trade Show Manager
If you are interested in signing up for a mentor, e-mail your BMA student committee co-chairs to request the BMA mentoring program application form for students and young professionals. The form will ask you to identify the category in which you would like to be placed. (You may choose up to three categories, but be sure to indicate your preference by rating them, with 1 being the area of greatest interest.) After you've completed your application, please e-mail it to info@bmacolorado.org.
Once we’ve received your application, we will pair you with a professional BMA member who has extensive experience in the area of your choice.
You and your mentor will sign an agreement that will define the terms of your arrangement. The agreement gives recommendations for success; for example, we recommend that you meet once a month. We even provide suggestions on topics that you can discuss. The length of the mentoring relationship is one year and there is absolutely no cost to you. The only requirement is that you are registered as a BMA student member.
If you have questions about this program, don’t hesitate to contact the program co-chairs.
